Having a day where me and Liam are both off work has become something of a rarity over christmas. Saturday was one of those days, so of course we had nothing better to do than make gingerbread men!!! FUN! Here is how we made them.
350g/12oz plain flour
175g/6oz light soft brown sugar
1 medium egg
4 tablespoons of golden syrup
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1½ Teaspoon of ground ginger
pre-heat the oven to 180°c/350°f/gas mark 4
1, Put the Flour, Butter, Ground Ginger and Bicarbonate of soda in a bowl and mix with fingertips until crumbly.

2, Add the Sugar, Golden Syrup and egg and mix until it forms a firm pastry mix
3, Flour the surface and rolling pin, roll the dough until about 1cm thick and cut the gingerbread shapes out with the cutter.
4, Line some baking trays with greaseproof paper and place them on the trays.
5, Bake them in the oven for 10 minutes and then place on a wire rack to cool.
6, once cooled.. DECORATE!!
