Autumn is here!

I absolutely love this time of year, it's starting to get cooler, i've dragged out my wooly jumpers and cushy slippers and snuggling up all warm and toastie with Liam and my kitties.

Every year my family has a huge Halloween/Firework/Bonfire get together which involves us all bringing carved pumpkins, squeezing into my grandmas house (believe me there is a lot of us and it is very much a squeeze), having a good old natter, putting on our hats, gloves scarfs and wellies to go out and watch the fireworks followed by sparklers and lighting the bonfire with our homemade Guy Fawkes on the top, and scurrying back into the warm to eat far too much homemade Pumpkin soup and crusty bread (YUM!) with ginger cake, gooey chocolate brownies and bonfire cake for afters. Need i say more? It's such a lovely evening.

I've become totally obsessed with Pinterest recently and have found these really Autumny pictures on there which are definitely getting me in the mood for Halloween, Firework night and of course, Christmas!

Do you want to be a Mermaid or a Whale?

I have just seen this posted over on Sarah's Blog (IAmFabulicious) and loved the meaning to it. We all know about the pressures that can come from the media now more than ever before and i think this really puts things back into perspective. So of course I wanted to share it with you.

The gorgeous Tara Lynn

''A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and very beautiful woman. The caption read "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?" The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people,

Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.

They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.

They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on CDs. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would be lining up to see a psychologist because of a problem with split personality:  are they a woman or a fish?

They would have no sex life and could not bear children.

Yes, they would be lovely, but they would also be lonely and sad.

And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I would prefer to eat an ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and because of that it spreads all over our bodies.

We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.

Every time I see my curves in the mirror,I tell  myself: ''How amazing am I ?! ''

My Face Cosmetics Review

A few months ago the lovely Lisa from GoldenGloww sent me these to review and do a guest blog over on her blog. She never got round to posting it as she's been super busy so i thought i would just post it up on my blog so you can have a good read.

My face Cosmetics is a brand i've been wanting to try for a while as I had heard some good things about it. With all the moving about i've done recently and being unemployed has meant i've not been able to afford much makeup so I was very lucky to of been sent these to review.

MyMix Foundation
£12.99 available from Boots or Online

There are 9 shades in the range and the colour I have is Fair 02 which is the second lightest colour. When I first put a blob of this on my hand I thought it would be way too dark for my skin tone but after applying it the colour didn't seem so dark and matched my skin quite well. Although I could still do with a shade lighter.

This a medium coverage foundation but it is buildable. When I first applied it I noticed it was very shiney/oily looking on my slightly oily skin so I would definitely have to set it with a powder. After setting it, it looks very natural and is more of a semi matte finish. The liquidy texture applies really nicely and once powdered it looks flawless. I usually find by the end of the day I have quite a bit of wear on my shin and around my lips but this stayed put all day. The only negative i found was the leaky packaging. If you're taking this away with you bag it up or you will end up with one very messy make up bag.

MyCover Concealer
£7.99 Available from Boots or Online

Concealer is something that gets pushed to the back of my make up drawer as I find my foundation covers most of the areas I don't like. However when I do use there is a noticeable difference especially to my under eye circles. There 9 shades available and I have Fair 02.

On first impressions this concealer didn't really stand out for me, It wasn't awful but it wasn't amazing. Since using it more i have grown to love it and it's definitely become an everyday product of mine. It's a slightly thicker consistency than the foundation but it covers blemishes and under eye circles nicely. This also has quite a shiney look on my skin so setting it with powder is a must. I'm not massively pale but I did find fair 02 was still quite dark for me.

MyMatch Powder
£10.49 Available from Boots or Online

I've posted before on my blog that i only really use 1 brand/type of powder which is by Natural Collection so trying something different was quite interesting. There are 3 shades and the colour I have is Fair.

It is much lighter in contrast to the other products I have from the fair range but works great to tone down a foundation that is slightly too dark. It comes with a little applicator/sponge which I tried and actually quite like as I found it controlled the shine much more than using a brush. It leaves as semi- matte finish and doesn't make your skin look cakey. It definitely helped my foundation stay on longer too as I didn't have as much wear at the end of the day when I wore it.

Here is the finished result wearing the MyMix Foundation, MyCover Concealer and MyMatch Powder all from MyFace Cosmetics.

On Safari at Longleat

I only live 15 minutes away from Longleat and have been there so many times before but I never get bored of it. With us having such a rubbish summer and me and Liam being in London we never had a chance to go this year so yesterday we snapped up the chance knowing it was the last day of the super hot weather. We took just over 100 photographs and here are only a few of them. This is going to be a super duper picture heavy post!

E.L.F Flawless Finish Foundation Review

I bought this about a month ago when there was 50% off code, how could I resist? When I bought it i hadn't heard much about it but since then a lot more reviews have popped up and I think it's safe to say i've found the reviews very mixed.  I think foundation is one of those things that no one will ever agree on which makes them very difficult to review.

I bought this in the palest shade which is Porcelain as I have fair skin which for some reason has forgotten how to develop a natural tan, booo! It is available on the E.L.F website and costs £6.50 which is pretty reasonable for a foundation. There are 6 shades available which I think cover a good range of skin tones although there always room for more.

The first thing I noticed about this foundation was the smell. It has a very strong perfumey scent which I personally don't mind but I can't help but think it can't be good for my skin. I also know a lot of people really dislike strong smelling products on their face. The colour for me was a perfect match (without fake tan on) and it has just the right amount of coverage, I'd say it's medium but buildable. It has a semi- matte finish and has SPF 15 in it which is a big thumbs up for a lot of people. It's staying power is nothing spectacular but it's enough to last about 6 hours without any touch ups.

Onto the packaging, which for me is very 50/50. I like the simple bottle, the pump and the sleek lid and it's looks very nice sat on my make up table. However there are a few things that outwiegh that the pros. The frosted appearance on the bottle makes the foundation look slightly more pale than it is. The pump doesn't work very well at all and I find myself sat there pumping away with nothing coming out but a few small splats (Hello foundation on my clothes!!) and lastly the lack of information on the bottle. I know the information is on the box but who keeps that?

One thing I will add is that I LOVE this foundation mixed with Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, it gives more of a healthy glow and a lightweight feel to it and looks absolutely gorgeous.
