Famous Dave

After seeing Wayne (gossmakeupartist) rave about this self tan i went on a quest to find out more about it. Every response i had when asking people thoughts on it was 'it's the best tan i've ever used'. It's priced at around £24 depending on what type you decide to buy so it is on the pricey side.

I managed to pick mine up slightly cheaper from the Debenhams website as it was in a 20% off beauty sale. I chose to buy the Spray Tan in a bottle in Medium/Dark and the Tanning Mousse - Gold Edition.

The Spray tan in a bottle is pretty self explanatory, you simply spray on the tan and rub it in using a tanning mitt. This gives you a very dark but natural looking tan and as it has a guide colour there is no streaking once it has developed. It does have that slight self tan smell but it is nothing too extreme. This tan is very dark so i would recommend buying the colour that matches your skin and not just the darkest possible (like i always do). This is great for a night out.

The Tanning Mousse - Gold Edition claims to be fragrance free and darkens according to your natural skin tone so you don't get that nasty orange look or end up looking too dark. I would say that it definitely does do what it claims. It gave me a very nice colour that was a couple of shades darker than my natural skin colour. This also has a guide colour to prevent streaking so you simply just apply it with a mitt. This is more suited to everyday use as it a lot more subtle than the dark spray.

Both of these Tans are great products. I would personally use each one for different occasions as the result is different from each one but i think it's great that they have something to suit everyone in their range. I wouldn't say it was quite worth the amount of money you pay at full price as it is a little pricey but it is much better than all the high street self tans i have used and i would definitely re purchase this when i run out.

Lets get nude!

If like me you have very pigmented lips then you'll know how difficult it is to find a lipstick with enough coverage to tone down the harsh redness of your natural lip colour. I personally don't like having dark/red lips as i find they have the appearance of looking sore and make my face look too flushed.

I have been searching around for a nude lipstick that will completely cover the colour so I could use it as a base for other colours or use it on its own. On my quest for nude lips I have come across these. Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in 250 birthday suit £5, Mac Lipstick in Myth £13.50, Topshop Lipstick in Nevada £8 and Barbra Daly Lipstick in Innocent £5.

(left to right) Rimmel, Mac, Topshop and Barbra Daly

I personally don't like the colour of the Rimmel Lisptick as I find that it is not nude enough and is more of a brown nude, I think the name 'Birthday Suit' kind of fooled me into thinking it would be what i was looking for. This is not a bad products, it feels very nice on and has good staying power but I just don't like the colour,.

Mac's Myth is probably one of their best known lipsticks and is often said to be quite 'concealer looking' however I find that my lips are so pigmented that on me it still has a slight pink tone and looks really nice on. The only problem i have with this lipstick is that it dries my lips out so fast and leaves a weird build up where my lips meet. This can be solved by putting a bit of lipgloss over the top when it's first applied. Myth is my favourite colour out of all 4 Lipsticks.

I've never really thought about trying topshop make up as I always thought it would be a bit rubbish. But after seeing a few youtubers rave about it I thought i'd pop in and have a browse. This lipstick is very close dupe of Myth colour wise, but the application of Topshops Nevada is much creamier. It's less coverage but you don't get that nasty dryness that you get with Myth.

Last but no least Barbra daly. This lipstick is very sheer on the natural lip so my impression we're very disappointing, so it got shoved to the back of my make up drawer. However when I tried it over Myth it looks so nice! It's a really nice consistency and feels the best on the lips out of all these lipsticks.

I tried to get photographs of these on my lips but my camera, lighting and face were not cooperating so i had to settle for swatches on my hand.

(Left to Right, Rimmel, Mac, Topshop, Barbra daly)

With a bit of mix and matching these lipsticks work great together (minus the Rimmel one due to the colour). But if you're looking for a nude with great coverage them Myth by Mac is definitely the best. If you're looking for a great nude with a more moisturising feel or if you're on a tighter budget then Topshops Nevada is more for you.

Yes you read the title right, I bought all of these items in Tesco. It's not the usual shop of choice for a haul but i managed to pick up quite a few things so I thought i'd show you. Yesterday I went food shopping with my mum and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have a good nose at all the products and clothes they had to offer.

This spring/summer i am loving wearing plain tank tops with leggings and flip flops but my colour selection was lacking. So when I spotted these tops on offer for 2 for £8 they went straight into the trolley.

This is more mint green in person
This is more light purple in person

Recently I have been finding that I don't have a neutral bag that will go with every outfit which often ends up in me taking my big heavy tacky zebra print Pauls Boutique bag everywhere I go (not ideal). I thought this bag would be ideal and looked far more expensive than it was at only £12

these are all he items i picked up in Tesco

A lot of the products in store were on offer so i managed to pick up some more bargains. In a recent video SWalkerMakeup used Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel heat defense spray and as I was running low and it was half price i thought it would be a great opportunity to try it out.

Some of you may have seen the advert on TV for Veets Hair Minimising body moisturiser. I think most females would love the idea of this as it claims to 'noticeably slow down hair re-growth and prolong the silky smooth feeling so you can remove hair less often'. Now I don't know how true this is but I'm certainly willing to test it out and it was half price, bargain! I'll upload a post in 2 weeks time about my results.

Johnsons and Simple cleansing wipes were 2 for £6 ( i think it was £6). These a probably my 2 favorite brands as their wipes are very moist meaning i can easily remove any makeup without having to scrub a t my skin or use to wipes. they also leave your skin feeling very fresh.

Since Rimmel discontinued the foundation i use i have been endlessly searching for a foundation that is medium to full coverage but very light and non cakey that leaves you  with a nice dewy glow. I've come to the conclusion that it is nearly impossible. Gossmakeupartst mentioned in a recent video that he loves Rimmels 25hour Lasting Finish foundation, so that was on the top of my Foundations to try list. Once i've tried out all the foundations on my list i'll do a blog post on my thoughts.

Last but not least Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer. This may be surprising but I have never had a concealer or used a concealer as part of my make-up routine so i thought now is the time to start.

That's everything I bought and I'm quite impressed at Tesco's collection of products and the great deals they have on at the moment.

The Balm Blush Review

A couple of months ago i won £100 worth of BrandAlley vouchers thanks to Fleur (FleurDeForce) who kindly done a giveaway to celebrate reaching 5,000 followers on her blog. After receiving the voucher i went straight over to the BrandAlley website to see what sales they had on.

For those of you that don't know what BrandAlley is, it is a website that sells 100% authentic designer items at sale price for a short amount of time. so you can pick up some great bargains.

After a large amount of browsing i finally decided which items to purchase and here are 3 of their Blushers. Before visiting BrandAlley i had never heard of The Balm Cosmetics and couldn't find many reviews of their products and that is the reason for this post.

Swatches from left to right: Down Boy, Hot Mama the Cabana Boy.

The first item i bought was the Down Boy blusher. First of all i LOVE the packaging on all their products, it immediately drew my attention to it. This is a really cute baby pink colour and is completely matte. This product is nicely pigmented and has very subtle look when it's on the the skin, making it very wearable. I did find by the end of the day it has rubbed off somewhat so i would carry it with you for any necessary touch ups during the day. i bought this for £8.00 and the RRP is £16.00

DownBoy Blush from The Balm

The next product is Hot Mama Blush, which is a lovely Peach colour with quite a bit of shimmer. This colour is great if you want to make your cheeks stand out but without putting much colour onto them. This is also very nicely pigmented and adds a nice glow to cheeks with it's shimmer. It is very wearable and if you don't want your make up to stand out too much then this is perfect. This also didn't wear of as much during the day as the Down Boy blush. This cost me £7.50 and RRP is £15.00

Hot Mama from The Balm

The last blusher is Cabana boy, this is a really dark pink with a ever so slight shimmer which looks fab on the cheeks. This is a much more harsh colour when on the skin but if you like your blusher to look like it stands out more then this is absolutely for you. Again as with all their Blushers it is nicely pigmented and i didn't notice it wearing off as much. I bought this for £8.00 and the RRP is £16.00

CabanaBoy Blush from The Balm

I really love these products and i'm excited to try other things from their range. The Balm doesn't get as much credit and recognition as it deserves in the Beauty Blogging and Youtube Beauty Guru world so i'm hoping you'll all love it as much as i do.

Beauty, Blogging and Beginnings

After a pretty down in the dumps day and a very emotional goodbye i thought i would sit down and attempt to start my blog to take my mind off things. And blooming nora it was harder than i thought. I've now managed to get my head around things and i think (and hope) that it is now all up together.

Right now i know no-one will be reading this so typing to nobody is rather strange. but hopefully i'll discover some followers soon. or should i say, they'll discover me.

I'm hoping that when i have time i'll be posting quite regularly on all things beauty related as my collection is gradually growing larger. Especially my Aussie one.
