My Christmas

Another picture heavy post of the antics i've got up to over christmas...

Couldn't resist pulling a face could I

even my grandparents joined in!!

The boat race
The boat race will need a little explanation! The idea of the game is to blow the match stick across the water to the edge of the tray but your blowing against eachother. HOWEVER, in our family not all is as it seems. It is only played by new members of the family and it is classed as an initiation. The players have no idea what is about to hit them.. literally. The 'referee' shouts ready.. steady.. GO! As he shouts GO and the player ducks right down ready to blow the match he slaps his hand into the water and gets the unsuspecting player soaking wet! This year it was Liams turn and my grandpa kindly volunteered to be his opponent knowing what would happen. Needless to say Liam ended up soaked head to toe and we all ended up in roars of laughter!!

Working With Santa!

As most of you will know, this year I have been working with Santa in the Grotto over at Center Parcs. As this is the reason I have been so absent from my blog, here are some fun photos of where I have been spending most of my time!

Christmas Fun: Gingerbread Men

Having a day where me and Liam are both off work has become something of a rarity over christmas. Saturday was one of those days, so of course we had nothing better to do than make gingerbread men!!! FUN! Here is how we made them.

350g/12oz plain flour
175g/6oz light soft brown sugar
100g/4oz butter
1 medium egg
4 tablespoons of golden syrup
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1½  Teaspoon of ground ginger

pre-heat the oven to 180°c/350°f/gas mark 4

1, Put the Flour, Butter, Ground Ginger and Bicarbonate of soda in a bowl and mix with fingertips until crumbly.

Yes this is my boyfriend wearing a pig apron (it is essential)

2, Add the Sugar, Golden Syrup and egg and mix until it forms a firm pastry mix

3, Flour the surface and rolling pin, roll the dough until about 1cm thick and cut the gingerbread shapes out with the cutter.

4, Line some baking trays with greaseproof paper and place them on the trays.

5, Bake them in the oven for 10 minutes and then place on a wire rack to cool.

6, once cooled.. DECORATE!!

The finished result...

Christmassy day out at Whitehall

Every time I post on here I find myself apologising for my absence. Yet again I have been awol from my blog this time because of being poorly with the strangest cold I have ever had and not having the mullah to go and buy christmassy items yet. But alas, I am back! I get my first big wage packet on friday so expect some fun things coming up.

When it comes to christmas I am like i young child. I LOVE it and do not hesitate to put my decorations up far too early, buy a real tree and go off adventuring around Chirstmassy places. Now you can probably understand why I work at Santas Grotto! With there only being 2 WEEKS left until christmas and Saturdays being the only day I can adventure off with Liam I had to make the most of it. We decided to head over to Whitehall Garden Center as we'd never been and had heard it was very nice there. We heard correct and had a lovely day out. Here are a few pictures of the festive antics we got up to.
